About the HD Baby Scan

Come see your baby in High Definition images on the large screen with the help of ultrasound technology.

Anytime you wish, after 17 weeks into the pregnancy, you may have the HD scan. Preferably though, you should have it at about 24-28 weeks into your pregnancy because by that time the baby will have developed certain facial characteristics, which you will have the occasion to see on the large screen. When you will have reached 20 weeks, you may also find out the sex of your baby. In case you prefer not to know it, please let the sonographer know.

All scans take place at the clinic being conducted by professional sonographers who will use the latest scanning equipment in an appropriate and warm environment.

What to expect on the day

In order to help you relax and feel welcome and comfortable, our professional sonographers will use warm ultrasound gel. This scan will document your baby’s first moves in the womb and you will be able to see the HD scan on the large screen.

In case your baby moves in the womb, you will be able to see it live on the TV screen. This is a truly magical experience for both parents. You should know that the gender scan will be in 2D as standards.

If however you do not wish to know it, make sure you’ll let the sonographer know.

Preparing for an HD Scan

During the week before you scan, try to drink at least two extra glasses of water each day. This will not only keep you well hydrated, but will also ensure the existence of enough amniotic fluid surrounding your baby to help us get a clear scan.

It will not be necessary for your bladder to be full for this scan, so feel free to use the ladies room as often as needed. You should remember that you can eat anything you wish that day but try to avoid heavy meals and caffeine in the hour before the scan.

If your scan is very early in the morning, please have breakfast first. It is often said that chocolate, sweets, fresh orange or even fizzy drinks will determine the baby to move so feel free to bring any of these with you at the appointment, in case the baby will be sleeping.

10 minutes before your scan you should have a walk around to try to wake up the baby.

I don't want to know my baby's gender, can I still have the HD scan?

In case you do not wish to find out the baby’s gender, all you have to do is let your sonographer know. They will make sure that you will not see the genital region.

Do you have both male and female sonographers?

Baby Scan Clinic hires the most experienced and qualifies sonographers and does not use discriminations between women and men. If however you require a female sonographer because of religious or other personal reasons please let us know in time.
